Big Walk Phase 2

Nonfiction in the library!

All of the children and staff gave feedback that it was a wonderful visit and that the children thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole school love the books that we ordered and they are in pride of place in our library. Wrekin Prep.

This ambitious literary journey, walking the length of the UK on my Big Walk to Little Schools is a joy. So far this year I’ve walked from home in Hay-on-Wye to Hathersage in Derbyshire visiting some fabulous rural schools along the way. My publishers Bloomsbury and Quarto UK have donated books for school libraries and creative writing competition prizes. And with my second Arts Council Lottery Grant I continue to be able to offer school visits for free. I have walked through such changing and stunning landscapes, mostly in the company of friends. I have been welcomed by enthusiastic teachers and done my best to answer the questions of a LOT of curious children. In July, August and in October I am heading into Yorkshire with library events and schools lined up. I can’t wait.

Many schools I have visited are keen to boost nonfiction in their school libraries. I am grateful to schools for investing in my books. Please get in touch to order a non fiction Book Bundle of the books pictured below.

It was a wonderful experience for the children to hear from an author, who has written a series of non-fiction books. Following the presentation, the school purchased one of each of Catherine's books and pupils have thoroughly enjoyed reading through them in the library. Stokesay Primary, Shropshire
