Bug Club story

Bug Club story

The educational publisher Pearsons kindly donated a box of The Boy and the Pangolin to a pangolin conservation education project in Ghana. These books will soon be distributed to children in four primary schools close to wild pangolins in the nearby Asukese Forest Reserve. This book, like Beautiful Blue Planet were commissioned by Pearsons for their Bug Club Shared Reading series for UK schools. I was asked me to write a story to help children learn about and understand deforestation – and I chose to write the pangolin’s story. This endangered species has a key role, particularly eating termites in forest ecosystems where it lives, many threatened by deforestation. I hope the book will introduce children in the UK to the sad but extraordinary life of this strange, endearing scaly mammal.
