Let’s Discover Wildlife in Ghana

Let’s Discover Wildlife in Ghana is a ground-breaking international children’s book project inspiring protection of nature in Ghana for people and the planet. The book is written by me with Project Partner Faith Barcroft; illustrated in Ghana by Jonathan Agyei-Peprah; with expert advice and collaboration from scientists and conservationists across Ghana; and printed.

The first 2,000 copies printed by Adwinsa Publications Ltd in Accra will be distributed, with the support of local networks free to schools, communities and libraries in Ghana.

Highlighting ten endangered species including pangolins, elephants and the National Bird of Ghana, the Tawny Eagle, Let’s Discover Wildlife in Ghana explores environmental threats in Ghana and the way in which communities are protecting wildlife for the benefit of people and the planet. The book introduces children and teachers to scientists who are working to protect endangered species across Ghana. It inspires its readers with ideas of how to get involved in caring for nature, also giving examples of conservation jobs in Ghana.

This project has been made possible with generous funding support from UK based charity Gower St. with additional funding from A Rocha Ghana and Herp Ghana. The authors are indebted Augustine Oti Yeboah and Prince Agri Pascal of Pangolin_Gh with whom this education project was first envisaged following field visits to rural schools in 2023 and 2025.
